Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Material Cost (Installation)

A unit's Material Cost value is equal to the total cost of the materials that make up an assigned compatible unit or macro unit. This value is used in cost calculations only if the unit has a status of Proposed Install. To calculate the cost of all materials for a compatible unit, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer multiplies the cost of each material item in the unit by the number of times the material is used and then adds these values together. For a macro unit, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer multiplies the total material cost of each compatible unit in the macro unit by the number of times the unit is used and then adds these values together.

Example (Compatible Unit)

The sample compatible unit 0410 Susp Angle 1ph 336aac 24kv consists of five material items, as displayed in the Components List of the Unit Assistant.

In this example, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer calculates the unit's total Material Cost for an installation as follows:

0037816 0057188 0114033 I01741680231275

Bolt assembly

quantity: 1

@ $1.85

= $1.85

Clamp

quantity: 1

@ $19.59

= $19.59

Insulator

quantity: 3

@ $7.09

= $21.27

Rod

quantity: 12

@ $0.79

= $9.48

Washer

quantity: 1

@ $0.44

= $0.44

Total Material Cost Install: $52.63 × 1.0 (linear allowance) = $52.63

This value ($52.63) is displayed in the Material Cost box on the Installation page of the Compatible Unit Properties dialog box for the sample unit 0410.

Example (Macro Unit)

As shown in the Components List for the sample macro unit WU-2-0171, this unit consists of only one compatible unit (0171), but the unit has a quantity of 2. The macro unit's Material Cost for an installation is calculated by multiplying the material cost of the compatible unit 0171 by its quantity:

$51.38 × 2 = $102.76 × 1.0 (linear allowance) = $102.76

This value is displayed in the Material Cost box on the Installation page of the Macro Unit Properties dialog box for the sample unit.
